SHAH ALAM: UMW Toyota Sdn Bhd will be launching two new Vios variants - Vios J 1.5 automatic and manual transmissions - on Friday.
UMW Toyota said in a statement the two were entry-level variants to the existing Toyota Vios variants launched in October 2007.
Managing director Kuah Kock Geng said Toyota Vios has captured 50% market share of the 1.4-1.5-litre passenger car sedan segment in 2007.
He said the Vios was popular because of its performance, reliability and economical value. It has averaged sales of 2,500 units per month. UMW Toyota targets to sell 700 units of the Toyota Vios J.
Similar to other variants, the Vios Js variant is powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine with either a 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual transmission. It also retains safety features such as anti-lock braking systems with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist.
The Toyota Vios J is priced from RM69,800. The actual price will be announced during Friday's launch.
