Air Quality Improves Nationwide



KUALA LUMPUR, July 5 (Bernama) -- Air quality nationwide registered a healthy reading this evening with 80 percent or 40 areas registering good Air Pollutant Index (API) readings compared with 66 percent or 33 places this Sunday morning.

According to the Department of Environment (DOE) website, the API readings recorded as of 5pm, also showed 20 percent or 10 areas with moderate readings.

Areas with moderate readings were Muar (60), Pasir Gudang (60), Kota Tinggi (50) in (Johor); Port Dickson (51) in (Negeri Sembilan); Sri Manjong (50), Taiping (52), Tanjung Malim (52) in (Perak), Perai (36), Seberang Jaya 2, Perai (42) in (Penang); Kuala Terengganu (52); Port Klang (55), Kuala Selangor (59) in (Selangor).

An API reading of 0-50 is considered good, 51-100 (moderate), 101-200 (unhealthy), 201-300 (very unhealthy) and above 300 (hazardous).
