PNB to offer additional 5bil units for ASM and ASW2020

JOHOR BARU: Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) will offer an additional 3.33 billion units of Amanah Saham Malaysia from Tuesday and two billion units of Amanah Saham Wawasan 2020 from April 27, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

The maximum allowed per investor is 20,000 units, he said in his speech at the launch of the Amanah Saham Malaysia Week on Monday.

Despite the current global uncertainties, the new inflow of money into unit trusts has been healthy, with RM5bil being invested in PNB-related funds so far, Najib added.

Last year, a total of RM10bil was invested.

He said PNB had a total of 9.3 million unit holders, with a total investment of RM87bil.

Najib advised young investors not to be influenced into investing in schemes that were not recognised. He cited how American millionaire Bernard Madoff conned the wealthy and educated through his pyramid scheme that promised huge returns in a short period.

Meanwhile, PNB chairman Tun Ahmad Sarji Abdul Hamid said the company has invested in 281 companies, of which 230 were listed on Bursa Malaysia in various sectors.
