RM5 Bln Sukuk Simpanan Rakyat 2009 Fully Subscribed

KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 (Bernama) - The RM5 billion Sukuk Simpanan Rakyat 2009 has been fully subscribed after nine days of sale, the Finance Ministry announced today.

Agent banks will no longer accept new applications with immediate effect, said the ministry in a statement.

The ministry said the initial amount of RM2.5 billion for the sukuk was upsized by using the allocation of the second series.

Thus, the entire allocation of RM5 billion is fully allotted to successful applicants and hence there will be no more issuance of the second series, it said.

The three-year Sukuk Simpanan Rakyat 2009 allocation was based on a first-come, first-served basis.

The sukuk, which is scripless, will be issued on May 14, 2009.

Successful applicants will be notified by their agent banks, the ministry said, adding that the successful applicants will be issued an initial statement on the amount allotted beginning May 19, 2009.

Those who need further information on the sukuk can contact Bank Negara Malaysia TeleLink at 1300-88-5465 or by visiting the www.treasury.gov.my or www.bnm.gov.my/sukuksimpanan websites.
